I told the kid about Diogenes' featherless biped on the walk to school today. He announced his intention to tell all his friends at school.

He demanded more tales of Diogenes but the only other kid-friendly thing I could come up with was "you're blocking the sun"

He was very interested in how Diogenes was holding the chicken.

Me: "Oh, probably by the neck."
Kid: "So, he was CHOKING THE CHICKEN?"
Me: "Well, um... yes but maybe don't use that phrasing"

Anyway, if your second-grader comes home with an inexplicable interest in ancient Greek cynics, you're welcome.
